The Government of Belize, through financing from the World Bank, is implementing a project entitled “Promoting Sustainable Natural Resource-based Livelihoods (PSNRL)”. This project is being financed with a grant from the Japan Social Development Fund. The objective of the PSNRL is aimed at “promoting viable and sustainable natural resource-based livelihoods for poor communities in Belize and, thereby, reducing anthropogenic pressures on key natural resources”. The PSNRL is implemented by the Belize Enterprise for Sustainable Technology (BEST), within which the Project Implementation Unit led by the Project Coordinator has been established. Implementation of the PSNRL has started since January of 2013 and is planned to conclude in May of 2018.
BEST is seeking the services of a consultant to provide training in the management and operations of a butterfly farm that has recently been constructed in Bermudan Landing. It is expected that this training will strengthen the capacity of the members of the Community Baboon Sanctuary Women’s Conservation Group so that they can diversify with a business attitude in their tourism based program. The consultant will conduct 22 days of practical and theoretical training course, including monitoring and supervision in order to build the groups’ knowledge and experience, and expertise. The training will take place in Bermudan Landing Belize District, Belize.
Required Profile:
• Professional Qualification: at least a high school diploma, training in butterfly farm management, or related field.
• General Experience: at least five (5) years working experience in environmental work in Belize.
• To have conducted Training in the area of butterfly farm management will be an advantage
BEST now invites eligible individual consultants to indicate their interest in providing this service. Interested individual consultants must provide information indicating that they are qualified to perform the services (CV’s, description of similar assignments, experience in similar conditions, clients’ references, etc.).
Interested consultants may request the Terms of Reference at the address below during office hours Monday to Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Fridays from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
A consultant will be selected in accordance with the procedures for Selection of Individual Consultants set out in the World Bank’s Guidelines: Selection and Employment of Consultants by World Bank Borrowers (January, 2011).
