JOB DESCRIPTION
POST: PROJECT MANAGER
“Contributing to Community Seascape Conservation by Engaging Stakeholders of Ambergris Caye, Belize City and Caye Caulker in Training to Promote Awareness of, Monitor and Protect Manatees”.
Job purpose:
- Implements all decisions as instructed by Friends of Swallow Caye’s Board of Directors expeditiously and to the highest professional level;
- Performs project management duties required for the proper implementation of the organization’s
current projects; - Maintains effective communications with Board of Directors of FOSC;
- Creates and plans effective systems for stakeholder engagement and marine protected areas management including research on manatees and their habitat, training, wellness and volunteer tourism, and other project related activities;
- Provides technical input in producing materials and delivery of programmes;
- Work effectively with other employees of the organization;
- Supervise contractors and work programmes under projects;
- Be prepared to travel locally on behalf of the organization;
- Be prepared to represent the organization at various workshops;
- Must maintain close and effective working relationship with co-management partners;
- Must maintain close and effective networking with all partners in current projects;
- Identifies and recommends income generation opportunities for the financial sustainability of the organization;
- Manages and does bookkeeping of project budget;
This Project Manager must be highly qualified, multi-skilled, flexible, disciplined, highly productive and of integrity. The position involves general and project management responsibility.
Requirements
- Devote a minimum of 3 days per week to the work of the organization;
- Duty station Caye Caulker – Project Manager must provide own work space and office equipment;
Qualifications
- Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree, experience in technical writing, proposal preparation, project management, financial analysis, communications, research, entrepreneurship, in-depth knowledge of Swallow Caye Wildlife Sanctuary;
- Well versed in the emerging new PACT Investment Strategies, the National Protected Areas System, the Global Environmental Facility Small Grants Program Operational Phase VI and OAK Foundation and the requirements of other donor agencies;
- Familiarity with integrated coastal zone management and legal framework of marine protected areas would be an asset;
- Computer literacy a must;
- English and Spanish Language capability will be an asset.
